LandVest Awarded New Timberland Management Client, Opens California Offices

Picture 216LandVest is pleased to announce the signing of a timberland management agreement with Shasta Cascade Timberlands, LLC, an investment entity of New Forests. Under the agreement, LandVest will serve as the comprehensive field-services provider and lands manager for New Forests' 170,000-acre holding in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Trinity counties, California. Concurrent with the signing of the agreement, LandVest will open two offices in California: one in Mt. Shasta and the other in Redding. As part of the transition, LandVest will be employing all relevant California management staff of the prior owner. The new locations are expected to be operational in mid-January 2018.

The Shasta Cascade Timberlands are a high-quality expanse of sustainably managed interior California timberlands, which include Douglas-fir, white fir, ponderosa pine, and other mixed conifers. The property encompasses four major management units from Redding north to Mount Shasta. The addition of the property will bring New Forests' total California timberland investments to 186,000 acres and the company's global assets under management to more than 2 million acres.

Picture 204"This partnership with New Forests is an important milestone in our western growth strategy," noted LandVest. "Given our prior experience with these lands, coupled with our existing relationship with New Forests, management of the Shasta Cascade Timberlands is an ideal fit for our services."

According to Brian Shillinglaw, New Forests' Director of US Investments and Operations, "the acquisition of the Shasta Cascade Timberlands is a key addition to our growing US portfolio. New Forests looks forward to building on the long tradition of sustainable land stewardship and production forestry in Northern California while ensuring continuity of operations and deepening our engagement with the communities located around the Shasta Cascade Timberlands."
