LandVest had another productive year in 2023, closing nearly $800 million in sales within our Institutional Land Group. We represented our clients across 19 states transacting almost 280,000 acres of land. The market was mixed in 2023 across sectors with strong demand for scaled institutional forestland portfolios, while the market for retail and mid-sized land properties softened.

Forestland markets have changed substantially in the past 18-24 months, perhaps more rapidly than at any other time in recent history. Throughout the pandemic (March 2020 onwards), we saw a substantial increase in transaction activity.

LandVest recently completed an arrangement with long-time Pacific Northwest forestry consultant and timberland valuation expert Steve Prochnau to acquire the Prochnau Forestry Consultants' timberland management services business.
