Holiday Gift Guide: Part III

Working on your gift list? This year, give the gift of a spectacular property. In our annual LandVest Holiday Gift Guide series, we share homes thatll be perfect for you, your family, and your friends! Follow along in this 3-part series.

Know someone who loves design or history? Someone looking for somewhere to work or entertain? Or maybe someone who just wants to get out among nature? If one of those people is on your gift list this year, theres a property in this post thatll have what theyre looking for.

For the Architecture Enthusiast

Inspiration for Cooper Hill came from an iconic architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen. Jacobsens designs, which include Jacqueline Kennedy Onassiss Red Gate Farm on Marthas Vineyard, are unique for Modernist architecture as they are inspired by the vernacular architecture of the American homestead. Cooper Hill perfectly embodies that aesthetic with its barn-like forms surrounded by classic Vermont scenery.

Its not every day that a home designed by a member of the Architects Hall of Fame goes on the market. Designed by David Sellers, The Treehouse is a house built entirely of trees. This Berkshires home is all about bringing the outside in, from its materials to its views.

For the Historian

For the fan of the Colonial Era, 1028 Bay Road will spark some interest. This stucco house was built around 1725 and still features old-world details like the original wood floors, glass-front cabinetry, oversized fireplaces, and sleeping porches.

More Massachusetts history can be found at Wolcott Woods, a new active adult community set on a historic private estate. This property was once the home of the Wolcott family, including former governor Roger Wolcott. Along with a renovation of original buildings, the new homes will also honor the propertys history.

Next up is Dartholm in Southwest Harbor. It got its name when it became the summer residence for the president of Dartmouth. Before that though, it was actually a dance hall! These days, this impeccably maintained property has been restored and renovated with incredible views and a private dock.

Harborside, a beautiful Queen Anne Victorian, was built for a Maine legend in 1911. Gooden Grant, lobsterman, was once described by the National Park Service as embodying the traits of rugged independence that were so important for survival on the Maine coast. His home was a perfect match.

Theres even a home for those whove longed to live out their lighthouse keeper dreams (without the stress of keeping the light on)! The iconic Keepers House on Isle au Haut is a white-washed Victorian that sits beside the Robinson Point light tower, which is owned and maintained by the town.

For the Entertainer

Not only does 8 Nortons Point have ample space outside to host waterfront get-togethers, it also has its own pub! Its probably not much of a surprise that this is a popular gathering spot with its wood interior, fireplace, pool table, full bar, and beers on tap.

49 Wilsondale boasts its own full bar in its walk-out lower level. But thats not all. Theres also a billiards room, game room, and home theater to enjoy.

Guests visiting 1153 Main Street get to experience the best of Marthas Vineyard living. This elegant seaside home down a private lane offers an openly flowing first floor and 8 bedrooms. Expect most people to spend time on the spacious covered porch or outside enjoying the beautifully landscaped lawn and gardens.

To Work from Home

Its clear that more and more people have come to appreciate the importance of a dedicated office over the last few years. Dedicated space, like Stonescapes wood-paneled library and office, is essential for having a productive workday.

Of course, the last thing anyone wants is to get disconnected in the middle of a Zoom call. Whether you chose to work from the designated fourth-floor office, or enjoy the views from the great room, every area in Rockport Harbor Views has fiber optic broadband, the key to keeping the workday moving.

Multiple people trying to get things done from home? Old Carr Road has the answer two offices!

For the Green Thumb

Fairhaven Farm is known for its local pick your own blueberries. This level and open 5-acre property includes a field of berries as well as fruit trees. Its a country retreat, updated to accommodate todays discerning buyers that is still just minutes to Concord Hospital and St Pauls School.

For a bigger operation, Southwick Farm is a 206-acre property with 95 acres of prime agricultural soils and 32 acres of fields. Theres a history of tobacco farming and it supports a tobacco barn.
