50 Birch Hill Road

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in one of LandVests properties? We invite our owners to tell us a bit about their experience, what they love about their homes and some of their history. The owners of 50 Birch Hill Road share how they built this Greek Revival home with an attached barn on just over 40 acres in beautiful West Brookfield, Massachusetts.

ABOUT 50 BIRCH HILL ROAD

We purchased the property in 1997. We investigated many towns in Central Massachusetts and found West Brookfield to be one of the most picturesque while having good access to major highways like the Mass Pike and Route 84. West Brookfield contains several stunning recreational areas such as the Quaboag River, Lake Wickaboag, Rock Hill Reservation, and a number of other conservation areas.

We built the house in 1998. This project included the clearing of forested areas to create pasture, hayfields, and trails. We have spent the last 22 years gradually finishing the house, working hard to include details that are architecturally correct for a Greek Revival farmhouse which includes an attached 3-story post-and-beam barn.

In 2008, we added a 50 ft. heated saltwater gunite pool with an automatic cleaning system. The surrounding deck is Pennsylvania Bluestone, and the entire pool area is surrounded by a custom-made wrought iron fence. Since the time of installation, the pool area has been the site of numerous family holiday gatherings and childrens birthday parties.

FAVORITE ROOM IN THE HOUSE

Laurens favorite room is the master bedroom. While all the rooms in the house have stunning views, the master bedroom overlooks a beautiful pasture. And even though the house is several hundred feet back from the road, this bedroom has a full view of the road.

Davids enjoys the sunroom with its many oversized 6-over-9 cottage-style windows which provide views of the pool, fields, and forest.

WHERE YOU CAN FIND LAUREN & DAVID

Lauren enjoys walking through the woodland trails with her dog, Hogan, pruning the many varieties of trees and bushes. She describes it as her winter gardening.

David most enjoys mowing the front pasture with the farm tractor.
