High-End Market Watch, First Three Quarters 2017

Market Highlights

  • Inventory up 6% (250 vs 235 last year).

Active Listings

In Middlesex County, Massachusetts, in the first three quarters of 2017, the inventory of high-end listings expanded by 6% to a record level of 250 listings compared to 235 last year. On average since 2008 there have been 196 listings at the end of the third quarter.

 


High-End Sales

Sales in the first three quarters of 2017 were reduced by 3% with 176 sales vs the record of 182 in 2016 and the previous record of 162 in 2015.

Days on market for high-end sales are improving, decreasing to 135 from 140 last year and are below the average from 2008-2017 of 161.

Sales by Town

Eleven of the 54 cities and towns in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, had high-end sales in the first three quarters of 2017: Belmont, Cambridge, Carlisle, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Newton, Sudbury, Wayland, Weston, and Winchester. Belmont experienced a record level of 7 sales vs 4 last year at this time. Cambridge was down to 17 sales vs 27 last year. Concord was also down to 11 sales vs. 17 last year.
