North Havens Captain Crabtree House Featured in the New Haven Register

Located in Penobscot Bay, about 12.5 miles from the Midcoast town of Rockland, North Haven is a small idyllic island accessible by ferry, boat, or airplane. North Haven was originally settled in the early 1700s by farmers and fishermen, drawn to the island for its fertile soil and bountiful waters. Today about 300 residents remain on the island year-round, many making a living as their forefathers before them. The population swells in the summer as an appreciative summer community migrates to the island when the weather warms in Maine and turns hot and humid in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and beyond. New Haven

On an island rich with history, the Captain Crabtree House is thought to be one of the oldest buildings on North Haven. The New Haven Register in Connecticut recently featured the home and its history in an article titled, "Maines Oldest Home on the Market is a Waterfront Delight from the Early 1700s".
