Named the most beautiful lake in the U.S, Lake George in New Yorks Adirondack Mountains has been an inspiration for centuries. One of Georgia OKeeffes most famous paintings, Lake George Reflection, will be offered for sale at Christies in New York on May 19, 2016 and is estimated to sell for $8,000,000-$12,000,000. The painting is reminiscent of OKeefes time spent at Alfred Stieglitzs familys retreat on Lake George, which she often referred to as "perfect". According to Christies, OKeefe intended it to be hung in both portrait and landscape form, so that it embodied both her abstract and representational painting.
