Lake Placid

About the Area
Set in the Adirondack High Peaks, Lake Placid combines a small-town center with a wide range of outdoor recreation. The area is known for skiing at Whiteface Mountain, extensive hiking in the High Peaks Wilderness, paddling on Mirror Lake and Lake Placid, and easy access to Nordic skiing, skating, biking, and year-round trail networks.
Lake Placid’s history includes both Gilded Age retreats and its two Winter Olympics, which helped shape the village’s venues and community facilities. Today it draws residents and visitors who want a mix of activity and convenience, with neighboring Keene Valley and Saranac Lake rounding out a connected mountain region.
