Hadley Lake Forest

Maine’s Bold Coast has been a prominent Downeast destination for many years; however, the easternmost reaches of this stunningly scenic coastal region are more recently being discovered. Hadley Lake Forest is located in the heart of this road-less-traveled area and offers a wide array of forestland, recreation, wildlife, and conservation amenities. The property boasts 1,827± acres of vibrant forestland, heaths, and riparian areas, as well as 2,000 feet of meandering frontage on the eastern shore of Hadley Lake, a large, sparsely developed lake along the East Machias River Watershed. The property is bisected by Gooch Brook, providing significant inland waterfowl and wading bird habitat. The land lies approximately eight miles northwest of East Machias, west of Route 191, and abuts Maine’s 1,516±-acre Rocky Lake ecological reserve to the north. In addition to adjacency to this public eco-reserve, the land also abuts a future 544±-acre water-access-only canoe and kayak camping and picnic area owned and stewarded by Cobscook Shores, a newly opened premiere parkland system. Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, Cutler Coast Public Lands, and the famed Acadia National Park round out some of the region’s prominent recreational lands.
