Timberland Appraisal
LandVest's timberland appraisal practice combines the skills of a large staff of seasoned appraisers, including several designated MAIs, with the experience and knowledge of LandVest licensed foresters, who currently manage over 2.0 million acres of investment-grade timberland across the United States.
UNDERSTANDING THE RESOURCE
Our staff of licensed foresters are available to cruise, inventory and value the subject’s merchantable timber, or to evaluate and value an existing timber inventory.
NON-TIMBER VALUES
LandVest has deep experience in the valuation of forested properties of all sizes, plus years of land planning and development experience to properly account for the impact of non-timber development such lake and riverfront development, carbon sequestration, and natural amenity values, as well as conservation easements and other restrictions.
LAND CONSERVATION
LandVest has over 30 years of experience in the valuation of working forest conservation easements and easement-encumbered timberland. LandVest appraised the so-called Pingree working forest conservation easement in Maine which, at over 700,000 acres, is the largest conservation easement transaction in the U.S. by acreage.
CARBON PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES
Carbon sequestration opportunities have become an important consideration in the valuation of timberland. In recent years, LandVest foresters have completed more timber cruises for carbon projects than for any other purpose.
