Utley Forest’s Danish Modern house was designed as an all-season country retreat. Sited to take advantage of the mountain views on 47+ acres, there is plenty to do right out the back door: trails wind through the property to Utley Brook with its 1855’ of frontage; a large pond for a cool dip on a warm summer’s day and a tennis court for impromptu round robins. Nearby is skiing at Stratton, Bromley or Magic and cross-skiing at Viking Nordic Center or hiking on the Appalachian Trail.

It is a place to embrace hygge, the Danish term for a feeling of contentment and happiness. The home provides ample, comfy living spaces for time together -- and apart. The kitchen with birch cupboards and European appliances is ready to cook for a crowd. It opens down on the great room with its massive stone fireplace to cozy around. The primary suite is on two levels and the three guest room suites are on three levels including whimsical bunk beds for kids. Two bathrooms adjoining the guest rooms were updated in 2020 in contemporary Scandinavian style. Sauna, media room, exercise and game room round out a full Vermont day. This is an ideal place for an extended family or friends to visit with its three-bedroom cottage and one-bedroom studio apartment. Other outbuildings include two barns. For working remotely, high speed internet (Xfinity) is available. 4 hours 18 minutes from New York City and 3 hours from Boston.
