Consisting of 1,801± contiguous acres, Fort Lewis Mountain Woodlands is a versatile land investment that combines timber, recreation, and potential conservation opportunities. Set in Virginia’s Ridge and Valley region, the property is located just two miles from Exit 128 off Interstate 81. It is central to both Roanoke and Blacksburg and less than a 25-mile drive to either city. The primary point of access to the property is Reese Mountain Road—a well-maintained, gated private gravel road with multiple mountaintop residences along it—with over a mile of road frontage and potential sites for a cabin or residence.

Fort Lewis Mountain Woodlands abuts the 9,000±-acre Havens Wildlife Management Area to the northeast, owned by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources for public hunting and other outdoor recreation. This extends recreational opportunities past the property’s boundary and adds future potential conservation opportunities.

Beyond the mountaintop views and extensive outdoor recreational potential, the property also features tangible value through its well-stocked timber resource. According to the 2019 timber inventory, the forest carries an estimated 68 tons per acre of mixed hardwood forest products, primarily made up of oak and yellow-poplar. Recent capital improvements have been made to upgrade 1.4 miles of interior forest roads and construct over 1.3 miles of new road to better access the property and its timber resource.
