Orono Island

Orono Island, located on Blue Hill Bay, is part of the Acadia Archipelago and consists of 30± acres, with a small shelter and two docks. Lush woodland paths wind throughout the property, connecting scenic picnic spots, small sandy beaches, and the piers. The island is extremely attractive, with a high point of approximately 62’ and extensive views of all the yacht and boating traffic on Casco Passage, neighboring islands, and the mountains of Mount Desert. With its proximity to the popular harbors of Mount Desert, this would be a very attractive property to many in the yachting community as an offshore retreat. Much of its appeal would be the natural forest environment, beautiful beaches with soft granite outcroppings, and easy access. The location of Orono Island is desirable as well; close enough to ‘civilization’ but not remote. Of additional significant importance is that there are two piers, both of which are quite protected, so landing in most weather situations is possible, and one pier would handle a deep-draft vessel at all tides. Offered in its entirety, this spectacular island property is an unusual find.
